China Mall Adopts a New Media Student’s Smart Application

01/21/2019

Hanan Mohammed Ahmed, a New Media student, created a smart application to facilitate and speed up shopping process in Umm Al Quwain. She called it "Quick Shopping Project", which was adopted by China Mall in Umm Al Quwain. The application shows the location of the stores in the mall easily and quickly.

Hanan Mohammed Ahmed said that, the application works through collecting the locations and pictures of the shops and linking them to cameras installed in them.  When the name of a shop is entered its location will be shown accurately.

She added that the application may contribute, in the future, to identify all the goods in the mall. Besides, it is considered as a step to move from the traditional method to the electronic one, smart markets. Noting that this application is the first step, and can be developed to become a comprehensive application.

Hanan said that she had founded this application because of the time she and most college students need to reach a shop in the mall, which had about 100 stores, making it difficult to access a particular shop.

Dr. Galal Hatem, President of the College, said that the continuity of Emirati excellence and leadership in technical fields reflect the vision of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates, and how it encourages innovators. That was proved when His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Umm Quwain, launched the Outstanding Student Award, which aims to encourage students to maintain excellence. His Highness also launched the Outstanding Academic Researcher Award, which aims to raise the level of excellence in scientific research.
